A year into my visual communication degree, I made a decision to forge my own path to creativity. University wasn’t for me—I wanted to dive headfirst into the world of design and illustration and I didn’t want it in 3 years. I wanted it NOW! I began where most do, creating visuals for pubs, clubs, art exhibitions and clothing companies. Learning the craft with real stakes – no grades, no tutors and plenty of mistakes along the way.
A few years later, design became my “proper” job. I joined a small family run business as a web designer. As many will know, you wear many hats in a small business and before long I found myself designing flyers, logos, updating websites, SEO, account management and project management.
In 2015, my journey led me to Bristol, where I joined the dynamic team at SIFT, a digital powerhouse. It was here that I found my home at PracticeWeb, a B2B marketing agency for accountants—far from boring, believe me.
During my 9 year tenure at PracticeWeb, I rose to the role of Head of Creative, steering rebranding projects, facilitating workshops, overseeing large website projects, managing freelancers, developing digital products and designing for events. My diverse skill set and interdisciplinary approach allowed me to lead not only a team of designers but also writers and marketers, embracing the holistic nature of marketing.
Enter Stu—a fellow enthusiast of good whisky, outdoor adventures, and, of course, nerding out about marketing. Our paths crossed when he joined PracticeWeb as Sales and Marketing Director. Stu would often take me on the road with him to meet clients (a high honour for a humble designer in those days ) and it was in those long car rides we found “our work hard, play hard” attitude made us a dynamic duo.
Fast forward to today, and I find myself at the intersection of words and visuals. I thrive on digging into the essence of businesses and products, transforming abstract ideas into tangible communication strategies.
Now, as a proud member of Make the Break, I’m excited about making a meaningful impact in the renewable energy industry.
