I started working in marketing almost straight out of University back in 2001. A brief stint in recruitment taught me never to stay where you are unhappy, and I moved to the marketing department of Direct Wines in Reading. Working across their complete product range with every department, I enjoyed the challenges as I took on more and more responsibility.

I moved within the company to take up a new role with Averys Wine Merchants in Bristol, and moved down to start a new adventure. Whilst before I had been a ‘traditional’ direct marketer working with print and mailings …. this new role was a move into the digital world. We built the website, created a digital marketing list and got stuck into social media and Adwords. I managed our client base including The Telegraph Wine Club and Virgin Wines.

Unfortunately after 10 years I was made redundant but I landed on my feet and was offered a position as Global Marketing Manager for Kranlyt UK. I went from selling cases of wine to cranes …. a bit of a culture shock! I worked autonomously and looked after our suppliers across the world – even learning to recognise a few words in Swedish and Russian.

After 10 years there managing all aspects of marketing, websites, brochure print runs and trade shows I took a leap of faith and joined the Ascot Group as Group Marketing Manager.

I met Stu and we hit it off straight away, we have a similar approach to working and getting things done. At Make the Break I look after our client portfolio, designing and executing marketing campaigns alongside data management.

With a focus on the renewable energy sector I feel like I am finally doing something to make a real difference. The future is green and it is exciting to be a part of.
